"It Is What It Is!"

I think I have found my new phrase. "It Is What It Is!" I officially adopted the phrase yesterday as I was driving in my car to Lemoore and talking to my supervisor at the school on my cell phone. I think this applies to so much going on in my life right now, we work so hard for things that we have very little influence in changing. This comment came about in response to the high school graduation at the West Park Charter Academy, while the district has 5 school board members not a single one set aside the time to actually show up for the ceremony. As part of teachers contracts they want to work these kinds of activities in as things we are required to attend however, not a single board member can figure out it is their responsibility as an elected official.

"It Is What It Is" also applies to group work in Master's Levels courses taken in an online environment, or for that matter to certain online classes and instructors in general. I am not going to go too far into this one at this point but I think it signifies the frustration I am currently feeling. I can not wait until September when it is over.

Finally, "It Is What It Is" applies to running a business when you have to deal with employees who are only making $10 hr. Unfortunately, work ethic is not what it used to be and employees often lack professionalism and courtesy. We have been very flexible in our scheduling to accommodate the needs of our employees since we opened and all it does for us put us in a bad situation each month when we try to write the schedule. I often tell my partner that writes the schedule that she is too accommodating in making sure everyone gets the time off that they request. So far being this accommodating has yet to benefit us.
